atomicOS ("atomicOS," the "App," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information atomicOS accesses, how that information is used, when information may be shared, how long it is retained, and what controls are available to you.
1. Scope
atomicOS is a running and personal health data analysis app. Its core purpose is to read eligible workout and body data that you authorize through Apple Health, analyze and visualize it on your device, and generate personalized training insights with the support of our servers.
This Privacy Policy applies to the atomicOS iOS application, the in-app features it provides, and the atomicOS server-side APIs the app communicates with.
2. Information We Access
atomicOS is designed to access only the information reasonably necessary to provide its features.
Depending on the features you use and the permissions you grant, the App may access or process:
Account information
- an internal atomicOS user identifier
- the identity token, and the name and email address released by Sign in with Apple when you sign in (if you choose Apple's private relay address, we receive the relay address rather than your personal email address)
- authentication tokens and a locally generated device identifier used to keep your session valid
Profile and settings you provide
- nickname, date of birth, sex, height, and weight
- ability baselines such as maximum heart rate, threshold pace, and running functional threshold power
- target race distance and goal finish time
- interface language and other app preferences
- allergen entries you choose to record
Health and fitness data from Apple Health (only with your authorization)
- running workouts and workout routes
- heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability
- pace, speed, running power, distance, and step count
- active energy, basal energy, and respiratory rate
- height, weight, body fat percentage, lean body mass, age, and biological sex
- sleep, VO₂ max, and mindful minutes
- limited workout metadata necessary to produce analysis and visualizations
Location and weather
- your approximate current location and city name, if you grant location permission
- weather information such as temperature, humidity, and UV index retrieved for that location
Equipment
- equipment records you create, such as shoes, apparel, and accessories, including name, type, and usage association with activities
- an equipment image you choose to take with the camera or select from your photo library
Device and diagnostic information
- device model, iOS version, app version, and language
- technical request information such as timestamps, request status, and network address, processed by our servers as part of ordinary API operation and abuse prevention
- support information you choose to send to us, such as your message, screenshots, and diagnostic details
We do not collect data from Apple Health, your location, your camera, or your photo library unless you authorize access or actively choose to use the relevant feature.
3. HealthKit and Apple Health Data
If you grant permission, atomicOS reads certain health- and fitness-related data made available through Apple Health and HealthKit for the sole purpose of providing running analysis, body metric trends, recovery indicators, and training insights to you.
atomicOS requests read-only access. The App does not write workout or health data to HealthKit, and we do not knowingly write false or inaccurate data to HealthKit.
We do not use HealthKit data for advertising, marketing, profiling, data mining, or cross-app tracking, and we do not store HealthKit-derived personal health information in iCloud.
atomicOS is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
4. Training Insights and Third-Party AI Processing
The training insight features send a structured summary of your data to our servers so that written insights can be generated and streamed back to your device.
The structured input may include:
- workout summary values such as date, duration, distance, pace, heart rate, power, elevation, splits, and detected run type
- body and recovery values such as heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, VO₂ max, training load, and readiness indicators
- profile and baseline values needed to interpret those numbers, such as age range, sex, height, weight, and ability baselines
- environmental context such as city name and current weather
To produce readable text, our servers may transmit this structured input to third-party AI model providers acting as our processors under contract. Those providers process the data only to return generated text for your request. We do not authorize them to use it for advertising, for building general profiles about you, or for any purpose other than providing the feature.
We minimize what is sent: the input is a structured summary prepared for analysis, not a copy of your full Apple Health history, and it does not include your name, email address, or account credentials.
If you do not want your data processed this way, do not use the training insight features.
5. Location, Weather, and Maps
If you grant location permission, atomicOS uses your location to determine your city and to request weather data through Apple WeatherKit. Location and weather values may be shown in activity details and included in the structured input used to generate insights.
Route maps and route previews are rendered using Apple MapKit and the Mapbox Maps SDK. Map providers may receive technical requests necessary to render map tiles and styles, subject to their own privacy policies. We do not upload your Apple Health workout history to map providers.
6. How We Use Information
Authorized data is used only to provide and improve the App's features, including:
- authenticating you and keeping your session valid
- reading eligible workout and body data you choose to make available
- computing splits, zones, training load, run type classification, performance metrics, trends, and recovery and readiness indicators
- rendering route maps, charts, and activity details
- generating personalized training insights, daily status notes, and activity recaps
- storing and syncing your profile, ability baselines, settings, and equipment across your sessions and reinstalls
- providing weather and location context
- maintaining local app state such as cached analysis results and selected language
- responding to support requests and diagnosing crashes and defects
- protecting the security and integrity of the Service, including request signing and abuse prevention
We do not use your health or workout data for advertising, cross-app tracking, profiling for marketing, or sale.
7. Local Processing, Storage, and Transmission
atomicOS performs most of its analysis locally on your device. In general:
- workout reading, statistical cleaning, zone calculation, run type classification, training load, and readiness computation are performed on-device
- route simplification and chart and map rendering are performed on-device
- your profile, ability baselines, equipment, allergen entries, and workout extension records are stored in a local database on your device
- preferences and local UI state are stored in local app storage, and session tokens and the device identifier are stored in the iOS keychain
- a limited cache of computed results may be stored locally to improve launch speed and offline availability
Information is transmitted to our servers when you sign in, refresh your session, sync your profile or equipment, fetch remote configuration, or request training insights. Weather requests are handled by Apple WeatherKit, and map requests by the map providers. All API traffic uses HTTPS.
We do not maintain a mirror copy of your full Apple Health workout history on our servers.
8. Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell health data, fitness data, workout information, or any other personal information.
We do not disclose HealthKit-derived data to advertisers, data brokers, or third-party analytics providers for advertising, marketing, or cross-app tracking.
We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers and processors we use to operate the Service, including hosting infrastructure and the third-party AI model providers described in Section 4. They are permitted to process data only for the requested purpose, under contract, and consistent with this Privacy Policy and Apple's App Review requirements.
- Apple services you use, such as Sign in with Apple, WeatherKit, and Mail, which operate under Apple's policies.
- Map providers, limited to the technical requests needed to render maps.
- Features you initiate, such as selecting a photo, saving an image, sending a support email, or using the system share sheet.
- Legal requirements, when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.
9. International Transfers
Our servers and service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we take steps intended to ensure that such transfers have an appropriate legal basis and that the information continues to be protected consistently with this Privacy Policy.
10. Data Retention and Deletion
Retention depends on where the information lives:
- data stored on your device remains there until it is refreshed, replaced, reset, or you delete the App
- account information, profile, ability baselines, equipment, allergen entries, and settings stored on our servers are retained while your account exists
- structured insight inputs and generated insight text are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to deliver, cache, and troubleshoot the feature, after which they are deleted or aggregated so that they no longer identify you
- technical request logs are retained for a limited period for security, abuse prevention, and debugging
- we do not retain a server-side copy of your full HealthKit workout history
If you delete your account from within the App, we delete or anonymize the account profile and associated synced data on our servers, and the App removes locally stored user data from your device. Some records may persist for a short period in backups, or longer where retention is required by law.
If you send us a support email, we may retain that correspondence and the information you include for as long as is reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, comply with legal obligations, or maintain support records.
11. Security
We use measures intended to protect your information, including HTTPS for all API traffic, request signature validation, short-lived access tokens with refresh, certificate public key pinning for our API domain, and keychain storage for credentials on your device.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Choices and Controls
You can control access to your information at any time. You may:
- grant, modify, or revoke Apple Health permissions in the Health app and in iOS Settings, per data category
- grant or revoke location, camera, and photo library permissions in iOS Settings
- edit or remove your profile details, ability baselines, equipment, and allergen entries in the App
- choose not to use the training insight features
- sign out of the App
- delete your account from within the App, which removes your account profile and associated synced data as described above
- delete the App to remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to normal iOS behavior
- contact us at support@atomicos.run to ask about access, correction, or deletion of your information, subject to applicable law and identity verification
13. Children's Privacy
atomicOS is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us so that we can delete it.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. If we do, we will update the Effective Date and Last Updated date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the App.
